The plant must be replaced

When the plant in the Living Light lamp dies or you want a new plant, you can replace the old one with a new one. The following plants we have tested and are suited for the Living Light lamp: Spathiphyllum and Chamaedorea.

Follow the next steps and watch the video for replacing the plant.

Remove the old plant:
1. Use masking tape to cover up the LED’s
2. De-attach the sensor and let it hang loose
3. Gently start pulling the plant out of the soil. Grab it at its roots. The soil can stay dry for a maximum of 20 minutes.

Preparation of the new plant:
4. Rinse the roots of the new plant with water. All the soil must be removed of the roots, because most plants come with soil where nutritions are added. This can have a negative effect on the technology.
5. Use garden peat (tuinturf) as soil or recycle the old soil of the Living Light lamp.

Positioning of the plant in the planter:
6. Make sure that the sensor is hanging outside the planter.
7. Make a hole in the soil in the middle of the planter
8. Place the plant in the hole in the soil
9. Top up the plant with soil. The soil must stay 1,5 cm underneath the bamboo ring.
